A radio dial, re-imagined for the Pashtun world
khyber FM (khyberfm.com) is an independent listening platform: we aggregate and curate — we do not broadcast over anyone. Here is exactly what this is and how it works.
What khyber FM is
A web app that carries live Pashto-belt radio stations in one reliable player, wraps them with time-zone-aware schedules, branded music channels, a dedication studio and a podcast hub. The name borrows the most famous mountain pass on earth — because a radio platform that carries voices across borders is the pass re-imagined as a frequency.
What khyber FM is not
- Not a broadcaster. Every station's stream stays the property of — and is served by — that station.
- Not affiliated with Radio Khyber (Landi Kotal) or any existing broadcaster; the brand is independent.
- Not finished. This is the launch build of a validation product: the business case is documented openly on the opportunity page.
Where the directory comes from
Station listings are compiled from public listings (currently radio-pakistan.com) and health-checked at build time; every stream is re-verified when the directory is rebuilt. Stations can ask for additions, corrections or removal at any time via the contact path on the opportunity page, and the entry is updated in the next build. Community worldwide search is powered by RadioBrowser (radio-browser.info), a volunteer-run directory.
How the channels work
Khyber Hits / Classics / Soft are curated playlists streamed through YouTube's official embed player, with the playlist curator credited on the channel page. This keeps licensing with the platform and creators — khyber FM never re-hosts music it does not own.
Privacy, in one breath
No accounts, no trackers, no analytics provider at launch. Favourites, dedications and theme live in your browser's local storage on your device; the full story is on the privacy page.
